Charity Golf Classic to Benefit Hope at Hand

Looking for a great golf event? Look no further! On June 7th, mark your calendar to be a part of the first annual Hope at Hand Charity Golf Classic at the Ponte Vedra Club Ocean Course.

Designed in 1928 by famed British architect, Herbert Bertram Strong, the Par 72, 6,574-yard Ocean Course represents the area’s first resort golf experience. Praises have followed the Ocean Course from the very beginning. In 1942, after completing a match, golf legend Bobby Jones commented, “it’s a course to challenge professionals.” Five times in its history, the Ocean Course has proudly served as the site for the U.S. Open qualifying round.

Program of Events:
11:30am – Lunch & Check-In
1:00pm – Shotgun Start

Supporting Hope At Hand Is Easier Than Ever!

Hello friends of Hope At Hand,

I have a super easy way for you to help out the mission of providing poetry and art therapy around town: on-line voting. Hope at Hand is now registered with I Vote To Give!

All you have to do is go to their website, www.ivotetogive.com and click on Start Voting Now! The process takes about 60 seconds. The grand prize package is $10,000 and for a small nonprofit such as mine, it would be a major break. Hope at Hand has been providing services at the Sulzbacher and The Bridge of Northeast FL while running on a $5000 budget and with NO paid employees. We all volunteer. Clicking a few buttons may not seem like “real” volunteering, but believe me, it’s the only way H@H has a chance!

There are many worthy charities listed on the I Vote To Give menu. I hope you will select Hope at Hand, Inc!

Also, if you could please share this message with your friends using the convenient buttons at the top of this post, maybe they will help out too. Just maybe, an underdog will win this contest!

H@H: Making a Difference at the Sulzbacher Center

Hope at Hand continues to make a difference in the lives of local residents. Kelly Newton, the Life Skills Coordinator at the Sulzbacher Center, recently shared this testimonial with us:

The Women’s Poetry Class is a very unique and therapeutic class for our residents. Many residents have informed me of how much they have enjoyed the class. I know that it really helps to boost the resident’s self-esteem when they can create a work of art and write poetry. In addition to this, the residents really have fun in the class, I know I did!

With your support, Hope at Hand can continue to help people like the women at Sulzbacher who are in need. Don’t forget to visit our Donations page to learn how you can help!

H@H and TPC Working Together for Our Community

Time is running out for your chance to donate to Hope at Hand and be entered into the grand prize drawing for TPC Sawgrass’s Birdies for Charity contest (read more about the contest here)! Here is a personal message from Hope at Hand Executive Director, Steffani Gilligan.

Hello everyone!

There are only a couple of weeks left to generate financial contributions through the TPC Birdies for Charity donation drive. If you look at the Leaderboard, it’s obvious that Hope At Hand, Inc will never make it to the top of the list! That’s okay…those large organizations have been around forever and also do great works for people around Jacksonville.

But there is a category that we might have a shot at – the most people donating to one nonprofit. There is “bonus” money available from the TPC to an organization that receives the most individual contributions.

Just by sitting at your computer, you can help us out a lot! Here’s what you can do:

  • Visit TPC Birdies for Charity and click Make a Donation Now on the left. On the drop-down menu, be sure to select Hope at Hand as your recipient. Even the minimum donation of $20 will keep us in the running for the most individual donations and place you in the running for the grand prize.
  • Let your golf-loving friends know about this contest by sharing this post on Facebook.
  • Tweet a link to this post and help us get the word out.
  • Send an email or Facebook message to your friends and family; maybe others will learn about our work with poetry and poetry therapy, and support our efforts.
  • If you prefer, mail a check to Hope At Hand, Inc. 830-13 A1A North #126 – Ponte Vedra Beach, FL 32082. If checks are mailed PLEASE include the guess you have for the number of birdies that will be made during this year’s TPC. ALSO send a number for a tie-breaker, such as 29. The numbers of birdies dropped during the last few years are listed below.
    2010: 1,560 birdies
    2009: 1,502 birdies
    2008: 1,241 birdies
    2007: 1,370 birdies
    2006: 1,385 birdies
  • Volunteer with a click of a few buttons. Send an invitation to donate to everyone you know! If you could help us generate 3 or 4 donations, it just might fund our whole year of community service!

I cannot thank you enough.
